The Falanster’s Femida begins a copyright learning club’s circles

Issue

Economics of high developed countries catch up more and more gains with content saling. Content is art, science, informational technology products. Belarus is not aside. Nowadays our country is a member of WOIP (World organization of Intellectual Property), Berne Convention participator, and Euroasian Economic Community participator. These all organizations set up global economical rules. The written laws lay in production basic of non-material goods exchange. Today it is copyright.

Copyright is not just one ducument. The Law “About author’s and related rights”, Civil Code, Administrative Code, Criminal Code and the sets of international agreements are copyright basic.

However, the majority of these documents are obsoleted, immoral and harmful for Belarus. It is necessary if not cancelation, but to make serious revision and update.

What will we learn?

During The Flanaster’s Femida summer session we will touch:

1. Law’s project about access citizens to information.
2. Tha Law “About author’s and related rights”. Copyright history. Objects, subjects of copyright. The intellectual property nature.
3. Some parts of Civil Code, which are related intellectual property and indystrial property. Patents.
4. The Law “About commercial secret”.
5. Intellectual property defences. Administrative, Criminal Codes. Infringements and crimes in informational area and counterfeight goods.
6. International agreements (Berne, Paris, Rome, Zheneva Convetions, WOIP and TRIPS agreements and so on).
7. Copyright initiatives in Europe, USA and Belarus.

As a result of the Club’s meetings we will compose actual questions list, and the list of recommendation for changing laws, for legalization free licenses (i.e. GPL, Creative Commons) and deinstallation  of belarusian copyright.

Form

The Club takes place on a valuntary basis and every participant will have the opportynity to be engaged as much as he or she will want. To make the knowledge more concentrated and usable we are using Club’s wiki: femida.falanster.info.

For participants of previous seasons of The Falanster’s Femida Club, pirates, librarians, museum workers, sociologists, wiki-activists, scholars, students, hacktivists, lawers and for all who are interested in copyright issues.
