Past and future events

The last year of Falanster was a hardworking one. It was important to resolve a lot of questions connected with organizational development, to overcome crisis of growth and to keep more energy for good deals of 2014 year. In this article we are speaking about the past and future events, about the common points which we can use for collaboration.

 

Past events. 2013

 

Falanster’s Femida - traffic rules - we learned traffic rules, considered its advantages and disadvantages, collaborate with lawyers and activists.

 

Manual “Bicyclists helper” - the book for beginner cyclists to learn more about bicycles and social laws in the city, the stress was made on Minsk.

Club - Copyright Discovering continued to study laws in Belarus. For this time the main stress was made on the Law “of authors rights and related rights” (belarusian variant of copyright law). Discussions and online bridges were held with specialists from different countries (Ukraine, Russian, Poland, Catalunia).

 

Club - Linux Discovering that learns open source software GNU Linux and related software takes place. Today we begin experiments with Single Board Computers on the core ARM.

 

Drupal-days, Wiki-days allows to build more connections among guests and different communities. We focused on knowledge exchange, practical questions and also on widen and exploring international collaboration.

 

Participation in Young Pirates of Europe. Last summer Youth Organization Falanster became a co-creator of the organization Young Pirates of Europe, that promotes free knowledge exchange, transboundary collaboration of youth, advocates for copyright reform.

 

Falanster’s School 2 and 3. The second School took place in January 2013 and the third School - in November 2013. We invited guests for communication, systematized the knowledge of organization, analyzed the history of organization.

 

Knowledge Base. Creation of organization knowledge base have been continued. Today we have CRM and wiki.

 

Pirates Center is most ambitious project of Falanster, that went into free-swimming and gaining momentum during 2013 year. It will evolve as a separate initiative, may be as separate organization.

 

The First Amendment of the Statute caused mixed reaction among Falanster’s members on the Common Meeting that took place at the end of the last year. There are some amendments. Decrease of low age border, include new positions of Administrator and Treasurer, keep documents flow on the Internet, use digital signature, add mandatory contributions and some other. Today we try to find common decision with the Department of Justice city executive committee in Minsk. And the next week we will know the outcome.

 

 

Future events. 2014

 

In this year we will continue started projects and begin new projects.

 

Campaign “Intern”. The main goal is to attract students from different universities to pass internship in Falanster. Here it will be possible to get knowledge and help from experienced falangists, as well implement own ideas.

 

During January we were dealing with organization Creative Commons of Europe and we are ready to organize affiliate in Minsk by Falanster. The idea of spreading knowledge with free approaches is the aim of education process. Creative Commons of Europe promotes free licenses which allows scientists, writers, directors overcome bariers built by copyright to spread their creativity freely. During the year activity in this project will take place.

 

Open Data Day on the 22nd of February. We are preparing this event now. This is one time event which is close to Falanster by spirit and practise. The nearest weeks we finish the project “Awards of Belarus” nagrady.by and we are going to present it on the event. There will be also other Open Data projects and activists.

 

Bike - change the rules! - the main stress will be on the second release of “Bicyclist’s helper” manual and also on dealing with different communities to emphasize the importance of road rules' reform. The culmination point will be in spring. If it is succesfull we will continue the campaing in autumn.

 

Today we think about widen the Falanster’s activity on whole country and on neighbouring countries. That is why the 2014 year will be the year of searching for sympathetic and like-minded people for the creation of republican or international organization Falanster. Formats widen will help us to cover more territory and build stronger connections.

 

Experimental project mesh-net in Minsk has some legal problems. That is why Falanster will drill technical and jural moments connected with non-commercial spreading of this technology.

 

Falanster creates a Bookcrossing shelf. For years Falanster has been gathering books on different topics: history, philosophy, art… Let’s continue this tradition of collecting interesting books and at the same time the tradition of exchanging with useful knowledge.

 

It is impossible to spread the project ideas without PR and creative design, so we start to gather team of designers and artists, who is ready to social and virulent experiments.

 

As soon as we will finish described projects of 2014 we will create new. All interested people are invited to join Falanster’s team. Also we are ready to deal with different organizations and to find common points of work.
