Wikification of Hrodno
On January, 24-25 in Hrodno was held the first regional Wiki-Weekend. Organizer - Falanster, with the support of the NGO "Center "Third sector" and the Partnership "Green Network".
The aim of the event was to familiarize the participants with Wikipedia* and encourage active Hrodno citizents to edit articles.
Wikification meeting was held on Saturday and Sunday. Was attended by about 12 people.


Everything is going according to plan
At the first meeting:
- reported goals, objectives of Wikipedia,
- brainstormed articles that should be written about Hrodno, according to participants,
- demonstrated how to add already prepared own draft article, add photos and edit wiki markup,
- each of the participants registered, and those who have drafts, began to edit or enhance existing articles,
- participants make contributions not only during the hours of the meeting but after, also joined communication with the wiki community.
The next day, Sunday, we started to finalize articles and appreciated some of them according to the criteria of "good article".

Pattern of social organization was added to the Belarusian section of the official spelling.
Created a list of articles about Belarus to competition Wikipedia Spring** Central and Eastern Europe.
Hrodno historian Andrew Chernyakevich shared the findings of the analysis of interesting articles about Hrodno in various language editions of Wikipedia (Belarusian, Polish, Lithuanian and Russian).

*Wikipedia - is the greatest in the world free encyclopedia. Everyone can add articles or make changes to existing ones. There are Wikipedias in different languages. Although most Belarusians read Russian section, we still have two Belarusian sections - official spelling and classic (tarashkevitsa).
**Wikipedia Spring Competition - Competition of Wikipedia Central and Eastern Europe. Will be held during 3 months of spring 2015. The basic idea - add a Wikipedia article about every country in the region.
